Is there anything new for the 2019 Volkswagen Tiguan?
2019 Volkswagen Tiguan trim levels and updates
You wanted more space, and Volkswagen listened. The Tiguan was updated for 2018 with a longer wheelbase and available third-row seating. Now, what could be different for the 2019 model year? There aren’t many updates, but there are a few new features on select trim levels.
For the 2019 model year the Volkswagen Tiguan has a total of six trims. These are the S, SE, SEL, SEL R-Line, SEL Premium and SEL Premium R-Line. This means you get all the same trims from 2018, plus two R-Line variants for a sportier aesthetic inside and out.
One change we know is sure to impress is the starting MSRP. It has gone down from $24,595 to $24,295. Is $300 an enormous reduction? No, but that sure is a lot of gas money.
As far as features are concerned, updates are minimal. The SE trim gets an alarm system that was previously not available until the SEL trim. Both the Volkswagen Digital Cockpit and the Park Distance Control system have also been moved to a lower trim, going from the SEL Premium down to the SEL.
The SEL R-line trim is also going to be replaced mid-model year with a Jet Black edition that has an all-black aesthetic, but this won’t be available for the SEL Premium R-Line.
For those who are simply looking at the base 2019 Volkswagen Tiguan, there are no changes aside from a lower starting price. Each trim in the lineup continues to offer 4Motion all-wheel drive, with this configuration standard in the SEL Premium and SEL Premium R-Line trims.
