Is there anything different about the 2019 Volkswagen Atlas?
2019 Volkswagen Atlas changes and new features
It’s a new model year, so naturally the big question is whether this means new features for the 2019 Volkswagen Atlas. Why buy new if you could get the outgoing model year, right? Well, you’ll be happy to know there are some small changes and new standard features. Volkswagen also gave the model what it calls a “value realignment” by moving some high-end features to lower trim levels.
Key highlights of the 2019 VW Atlas
There is a total of seven trim levels for the 2019 VW Atlas, so you have a wide selection from which to choose. These trims are the S, SE, SE w/Technology, SE w/Technology R-Line, SEL, SEL R-Line and SEL Premium.
Just like the 2018 model year, the S trim is the only one that offers the 2.0-liter 4-cylinder engine, which cannot be paired with the 4Motion AWD system. The V6 is available at this trim and the AWD can be paired with it. The V6 is standard for all other trims in either front-wheel or all-wheel drive.
As this is the second model year for the Atlas, the Launch Edition option has been removed from the lineup, but the S trim is updated with new features. Key highlights include Forward Collision Warning with Autonomous Emergency Braking, Pedestrian Monitoring, Blind Spot Monitor, Rear Traffic Alert, automatic headlights, heated side mirrors and rain-sensing windshield wipers.
The SE trim is updated to now have tri-zone automatic climate control for an extra sense of comfort earlier in the lineup. One other value realignment is seen in the SEL trim, which now has the VW Digital Cockpit, Media Control, LED taillights, Discover Media navigation and a heated steering wheel.
